A Roman Pizzeria
New York, NY
From the team behind Maialino and Marta, restauranteur Danny Meyer and Chef Nick Anderer bring the fast casual Roman style pizza and champagne experience to New York City’s East Village.
Roman pizzeria research revealed a scrappy visual language typical of mom and pop shops. Also taking into consideration Martina’s irreverent attitude, lead to the “unbranded” logotype Chicago (1984), designed by Susan Kare for the first Mac operating system. Inspired by the free form energy of the East Village, a series of frenetic illustrations were developed to act as the matrix for collateral materials. Can you find a hidden slice of pizza or Italian slur?
