A Roman-style aperitivi bar
New York, NY
From the culinary team behind Maialino and Marta, restaurateur Danny Meyer, Chef Joe Tarasco and Pastry Chef Jessica Weiss bring the Roman style aperitivi bar to New York City.
All aspects of the service and graphic identity are designed to surprise and delight complete with dim sum style menus and pink golf pencils at every table. The logo was inspired by historic Italian street signage, often chiseled directly into the concrete. A humanist san serif typeface was chosen for the letterforms, rather than a typical Roman serif, in an effort to modernize for digital legibility. A series of whimsical illustrations were created and paired with Brown, a san serif font that reclines and doesn’t take itself too seriously.
